Increasingly, people are choosing to
represent themselves in court. While this saves the cost of
attorney fees, people frequently find themselves needing help navigating
their way through the legal system.
It is not always easy to
understand the legal procedures and or how various laws pertain to the
case. Drafting a legal document correctly so that it accomplishes
the intended goals can also be difficult.
Unbundled legal services are a means by which
clients can limit the scope of the attorney’s assistance to specified
tasks. For example, the attorney
can be hired as a consultant to help the client understand legal
procedures. The attorney can do legal research and draft pleadings
for use by the client. Because the attorney’s assistance is
limited in scope, the attorney cannot enter an appearance on behalf of
the client. This means that the attorney does not appear in court
with the client or communicate with opposing counsel.
Because the attorney does not appear in court with the client or
communicate with opposing counsel, our attorneys do not provide
unbundled legal services in a highly contested matter.

Unbundled legal services are
not for everyone or every case. However, for the client who
needs legal assistance for some but not all the tasks in a
case, unbundled legal services may be the ideal solution. |
